Hi, team. Some of you may remember that we used to have a team calendar on our SharePoint site. We’ve created a new calendar for all of product design and encourage everyone to use it. Use cases will be your out of office events like vacation, doctor visits, sick days, etc. This will replace Outlook calendar invites going out to the entire team and should greatly reduce email bloat. We may also add events like all-hands meetings to the team calendar, however an Outlook calendar invite will always be sent for items like this so they can be attached to your personal calendar. You should also continue to create an Outlook event for your personal view and status. If you need to send an invite to your smaller team, feel free to do so.
Work from Home schedule
We have also created a calendar view that displays only work from home (WFH) days for our entire team, and everyone will need to enter their own information. You can enter your WFH schedule in either view; it’s not necessary to be in the Work from Home view.
To enter your WFH days, select the Category, Work from Home (type this in on the first occurrence, but it will automatically show as an option after the first entry). It’s important that you type in the category exactly “Work from Home”, as this is the filter. Any wrong, additional, or missing characters will not filter correctly.
Adding Events
From the DDD Team Share, click on Calendar in the left nav.
Add items by placing your cursor in the bottom right corner of any day. This will prompt the “+Add” link to display and you can click and enter the details for your item.
To add your WFH days, type in Work from Home in the Category field.
Switching Calendar Views
Once you have the calendar pulled up, you can switch between views by clicking on Calendar.
Then use the dropdown to select Work from Home.
Syncing Calendar with Outlook
You can sync this calendar with your Outlook by clicking Calendar and then Connect to Outlook.
Click Allow and then Yes to connect this SharePoint Calendar to Outlook. You can now turn the calendar on and off as well as add events in Outlook.
